Regulatory Expectations of Board Directors

Independence, corporate governance and active risk management are now firmly embedded in the Irish financial services regime and, in particular, into the role of the independent non-executive director (INED).  These qualities must also be balanced with the right combination and experience of commercial business, strategy, operational risk and compliance together with a detailed understanding of the regulations affecting businesses.

I am happy to discuss non-executive director and board advisor roles for fintech and regulated finserv businesses in Ireland, the UK, continental Europe and Australia.

“…we have also identified a number of areas for improvement in the area of governance  ... and the need for more independent non-executive directors…”

“... the Board is ultimately responsible for risk management and strategy … It is the duty of the board to consider what represents an acceptable and an unacceptable risk in the context of the organisation’s strategy …”
